Team Levy was developed in order to provide a forum where people can explore the future, ensure economic opportunity, protect what matters most, and learn by accessing key trends and experts. The two and a half-hour session will take place at Bronson High School's auditorium on Thursday, November 12th, and begin promptly at 2:30 p.m. Team Levy programs are focused on dialogue, learning, and sharing. Don Upton, President of Fairfield Index, Inc. moderates Team Levy sessions and will raise a number of critical questions for participant consideration.

NCBDC Chairwoman Carol McQueen has noted, "Levy County is in a special position. We can anticipate a number of projects in the near future, share our aspirations with people from all sectors and parts of the community, and tap into expert leaders."

Because of Levy County's unique position in the development of new, greener energy solutions, the need to cultivate careers of the future, and the natural beauty and qualities inherent in the community, Team Levy is a magnet for local, state and national experts. Expert leaders participating in the first session of 2009 included Tim Center, Executive Director of the Florida Century Commission and Shenley Neely, Director of Levy County Planning Department.

Levy County, the place we call “home”, is in a position to make vital choices about our economic, infrastructure, workforce, and transportation future. By participating in Team Levy programs throughout the year, you can join leaders in learning about the best ways for our community to sustain and prosper.

  • Team Levy provides our community with access to key experts and practitioners in fields like
planning, economic development, sustainability, and entrepreneurship
  • Team Levy is a movement where all are welcome
  • Team Levy is a place where leaders can discuss the future and the best priorities
  • Team Levy documents its progress and asks the tough questions

Programs of 2009 have included: Information on Land Use on March 5; Transportation and Supply Chain on May 14; Levy County’s Target Industries and Jobs of the Future on August 13; the final 2009 Session will cover Resources and Priority-setting as a Community on November 12 from 2:30-5:00 pm. Team Levy is coordinated by the Nature Coast Business Development Council. For more details and updates please go to www.naturecoast.org or contact Amanda Douglas at adouglas@naturecoast.org.
